Furlong had a long battle with drugs and alcohol, at one point ending up in hospital with a suspected drug overdose.[24] In 2001, he was arrested for two separate incidents involving driving without a license and DUI.[25][26] After being in and out of rehab,[19] he said, "The first year of quitting (drugs) is the hardest thing I've ever had to do, physically and mentally.[27]
In 2004, Furlong was arrested for public intoxication following a bizarre incident at a Meijer grocery store in Florence, Kentucky (in the Cincinnati area), where he was filming the independent film Jimmy and Judy. According to the police report, he and some friends were getting rowdy and yanking lobsters out of the store's tank. When police arrived, an unsteady Furlong, who "smelled of booze," began to "turn around in circles" when an officer tried to frisk him. Furlong spent a few hours in custody before making bail on the misdemeanorcount.[28][29]
Personal life
Furlong had a string of relationships, beginning with a romance with Jacqueline Domac. The pair met on the set of Terminator 2 and became an item when she was his tutor on A Home of Our Own. The relationship lasted for several years, but the pair split acrimoniously, with Domac suing Furlong for part of his earnings.[17]
Furlong married Rachael Bella on April 19, 2006. The couple's son, Ethan Page Furlong, was born on September 21, 2006.[20] Furlong described the birth as "trippy".[21] On July 8, 2009, Rachael Bella filed for divorce after three years of marriage [22] citing irreconcilable differences.[23]

Early life
Furlong was born in Glendale, California, near Burbank, the son of Danielle (née Tafoya), a youth-center worker, and an unknown father. He is of Mexican descent on his mother's side,[2]and also has Russian and possibly Native American ancestry.[3] Furlong has a younger half-brother, Bobby Torres, from his mother's marriage to Moises Torres. Furlong moved in with his aunt and uncle, Nancy Tafoya and Sean Furlong, in 1990; the two gained legal guardianship of Furlong in September 1991 and subsequently lost it to his mother in August 1993.[4]Furlong attended Charles W. Eliot Middle School in Altadena, and South Pasadena Junior High School in South Pasadena, California.
Career
1990s
Furlong began his film career as John Connor in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, a role that earned him an MTV Movie Award for Best Breakthrough Role and a Saturn Award for best young actor. He was discovered for the part by casting director Mali Finn while visiting the Pasadena Boys and Girls Club. Furlong had no acting ambitions. He has stated, "I fell into [acting], it wasn't something that I planned".[5]
He followed this role with a string of moderately successful films and indies, sharing screen with Meryl Streep and Liam Neeson in Before and After, Tim Roth in Little Odessa, and Anthony Edwards in Pet Sematary Two.
In 1993, Furlong was featured in Aerosmith's music video for "Livin' on the Edge". This was also the only major Aerosmith video from Get a Grip not to feature Alicia Silverstone. In 1994, he played the lead role of 'Michael Brower', a horror and videogame - obsessed teen in the film Brainscan. In 1995, he starred in the film adaptation of Truman Capote's The Grass Harp.
In 1998, he starred in American History X alongside Edward Norton, and appeared in his first comedy role in Pecker, directed by John Waters. Of the role, he stated, "It's true most of the characters that I've played so far are kind of like suicidal. Really dark roles, which I like. But I wanted to do something different and John gave me a chance to do that."[6]

In 2000, Furlong played a young inmate in Steve Buscemi's film Animal Factory. Furlong worked steadily over the next few years, acting in five other films between 2003 and 2005.

Instead the part was played by Nick Stahl. Furlong later stated, "It just wasn't the time. I was going through my own thing at the point in my life – whatever, it just wasn't meant to be".[8]

In 2006 and again in 2010, Furlong appeared as a guest star on three episodes of the television program CSI: NY as character Shane Casey. He starred as Jimmy in Jimmy & Judy that same year, during which time he met Rachael Bella. The two became romantically involved and later married.

It was distributed by New Line Cinema.The film tells the story of two brothers, Derek Vinyard (Edward Norton) and Daniel "Danny" Vinyard (Edward Furlong) of Venice Beach inLos Angeles, California. Both are intelligent and charismatic students. Their father, a firefighter, is murdered by a black drug dealer while trying to extinguish a fire in a South Central neighborhood of Los Angeles, and Derek is drawn into the neo-Nazi movement. Derek brutally kills two black gang members whom he catches in the act of breaking into his family's car, and is sentenced to three years in prison forvoluntary manslaughter. David McKenna scripted the film and shooting took place in Los Angeles, California. The film was released in the United States on October 30, 1998 and went on to gross $23.88 million at the international box office. It was given an 'R' rating by the MPAA for 'graphic brutal violence including rape, pervasive language, strong sexuality and nudity'. Plot
The opening scene, shown in black and white, depicts Derek Vinyard (Norton), a white supremacist, killing two black thugs who try to break into his car. He shoots one and then coerces the other to put his mouth on the curb and then proceeds to Curb-stomp him while his brother, Danny (Furlong), watches in shocked disbelief. The film then switches to color and skips ahead three years, and we see Danny, a 17-year-old white supremacist, sitting outside the principal's office, where his Jewish history teacher Murray (Elliott Gould) explains to the principal, Dr. Robert Sweeney (Avery Brooks), that Danny wrote an essay sympathetic to Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf. After some discussion, Dr. Sweeney calls Danny into his office and informs him that he will now be his history teacher, calling the class "American History X", and that his first assignment is to write a paper about his brother Derek, or be expelled from Venice Beach High School.
Three years ago
Flashbacks throughout the film show Derek's transformation into a vengeful white supremacist in Venice Beach. Having already been influenced by his firefighter father's latent racism, Derek is driven to action when his father is shot and killed while fighting a fire in a suspected Compton drug den. Eventually Derek becomes second-in-command of a neo-Nazi street gang, The D.O.C., and entices young whites to join. The gang commits acts of intimidation, such as damaging a store owned by a Korean and challenging black players to basketball games to win the basketball court as turf. These incidents go unnoticed by the family until an argument with Murray (involvingRodney King whom Derek despises and who Murray has sympathy for), who is Jewish and who Derek accuses of wanting to "fuck" his mother Doris (Beverly D'Angelo) and threatens, Derek even goes as far as to attack his sister Davina (Jennifer Lien). Later that night while Derek is having sex with his girlfriend Stacey (Fairuza Balk), Danny informs Derek that three black men are attempting to steal Derek's dad's truck and have even broke the window. Derek runs outside and shoots at the two of the men with a pistol, killing the first one instantly who he shoots in the chest. The second man, one of the black basketball players, Derek shoots and wounds and a mad Derek vows to "teach him a lesson" for trying to steal the truck his father gave him and forces him to put his mouth on the curb, then brutally kills him with a curb-stomp. Danny watches in horror as this unfolds. The police arrest Derek as he smiles wickedly at a shocked Danny.
After being convicted of voluntary manslaughter, Derek is sentenced to three years at the California Institution for Men in Chino. There he joins the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang. After about a year, he becomes disillusioned with the gang, especially over the group's friendly dealings with a Mexican prison gang member. When he voices these opinions, he is ignored by the other white supremacists. Derek decides to no longer associate with them when he befriends a Black prison inmate, Lamont (Guy Torry). His fellow neo-Nazis take notice before they savagely beat and rape him in the shower in retaliation for Derek's leaving the gang.
While still recovering from the attack, Derek is visited by Dr. Sweeney, whom he asks for help to be paroled. Sweeney informs him of Danny's aspiration to become a neo-Nazi like Derek. Sweeney confides in Derek that he used to hate white people as a youth, and he realized that racism is pointless. Sweeney asserts that Derek has spent his life pursuing answers, and then asks him: "Has anything you've done made your life better?" This proves a turning point for Derek, who further distances himself from the Aryan Brotherhood and changes his outlook on life. Lamont emerges as Derek's only true friend in prison, and is part of the reason Derek stays alive as he uses what influence he has to stop the black prisoners from hurting Derek. [1]
Three years later
When Derek returns home he finds that Danny has become a white power skinhead and then tries and fails to convince him to leave the gang. Later that night at a Neo Nazi party which Derek and Danny are both attending despite the fact that Derek made Danny promise he wouldn't go, Derek confronts and tells the leader, Cameron Alexander (Stacy Keach), that he will no longer associate with him and the gang and tells him to "Stay away from him and Danny" at which point Cameron provokes and insults Derek who beats him up and knocks him unconscious before leaving his office. During an ensuing confrontation, Derek's overweight neo-nazi friend Seth Ryan (Ethan Suplee) runs after Derek and aims a pistol at him, which Derek wrestles from him, and points it at the angry crowd before running away from the party. Danny angrily confronts Derek who tells him about his experiences in prison of becoming aware of the effects of racism and being raped. The confession seems to prompt a change in Danny and they walk home with the insinuation that they will start to change their ways.
The following morning Danny finishes his paper, and Derek gets ready for a meeting with his parole officer. Derek walks Danny to school before his meeting, and on their way they to stop at a café where they are met by Dr. Sweeney and a police officer. They tell Derek that Cameron and Seth were attacked the previous night, and have been hospitalized. Derek claims no knowledge of the incidents yet they ask him for help, which Derek reluctantly agrees to do.
At school, after Danny uses the urinal in the bathroom, he is confronted by a young black student with whom he had a confrontation the previous day over him and his friends beating up a white student, who aims a handgun straight at Danny, the two look each other square in the eyes and then he shoots and kills Danny right then and there. When Derek arrives, he runs into the bathroom and tearfully cradles his dead brother in his arms. The film ends with Danny narrating part of his paper, in which he quotes the conclusion of Abraham Lincoln's first inaugural address: "We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature."

Synopsis
After losing a reality television show, a psychotic man kills the host. He then uses the house where the show took place to film his own reality show, which involves several contestants performing challenges, and the losers being "sent home" (a euphemism for being killed).
Plot
At the beginning of the film it is revealed that Cathy was once the host of a reality show similar to "The Bachelor", and that after her husband won, the producers allowed the couple to move into the house where show had previously taken place. The house, still fitted for reality television, had several secret rooms and passages as well as a host of cameras all over the estate.The noticeably mentally unstable Phillip Markham, is allowed entrance into the home for a visit. Cathy is initially put off by his odd behavior, and feels more and more uncomfortable as Phillip reminisces about the show they were on together (that Phillip lost, despite his love for Cathy). Phillip tells Cathy that he sent out applications to colleges all over the country forhis own reality show, and that it was going to take place in Cathy's house. Phillip then murders Cathy and her husband.
Meanwhile, the contestants arrive (4 men and 5 girls), and Phillip reveals to them that after tonight he will not feed them. They go through different "challenges", including locking themselves in coffins and trying to find the key inside. Ruby is offset by the challenges, which are more over-the-top than most reality show challenges, and often try to instill great fear and peril into the contestants. As Ruby begins to realize what is going on, she is drowned by an unseen assailant. Gina is voted off by the rest of the contestants. On the ride home she is buried alive, and Phillip's assistant (later revealed to be his brother Claude) films it. Police discover the grave site and ask Phillip if he knows anything about Gina's disappearance. He casually claims he does not know, and wishes he could do more to help them.
The contestants are tricked into eating Ruby's remains (believing it to be raw beef, and desperate for food). However, during the meal Mikko vomits and is disqualified. When she is asked to go home, she realizes that Claude (Phillip's physically imposing yet mentally handicapped brother) is trying to kill her and flees. In her escape however, she runs into a shed, and Claude locks her inside. During another challenge, Techno goes inside of the shed and finds Claude asking him what he is doing there if he is the cab driver. After a lengthy monologue, Phillip orders Claude to kill Techno- and he is stabbed in the abdomen.
Bobby accidentally stumbles upon the video of Gina being buried. He tells the others, who find Cathy's dead body in a closet. Phillip tells them to look out of the window, and they see Claude dragging Techno's dead body across the courtyard. Phillip then confesses to them that he is not filming a real reality show, and that he has been murdering people. In another challenge, simple farmboy Collin is forced to swordfight the highly manipulative drama king Jack. Collin disarms Jack, but refuses to kill him, and turns his back to tell Phillip that he quits. While his back is turned, Jack stabs and kills him- winning the challenge and avoiding being sent home. However, this greatly angers Bobby, who was friends with Collin. Jack loses the next challenge, and (being a coward) runs back in the house. But Bobby kicks him out of the house, telling him to die like a man, and expressing his disgust with Collin's murder.
Afterward, Bobby discovers a secret door. Ashley, his partner, agrees to explore the passageway. She finds a way out, and tries to escape, but is discovered before she can reach the road, and decapitated. This greatly upsets Jenny, as she is the only one left besides Bobby. It is also revealed that Claude has a crush on Jenny. Realizing that it would be best, Bobby decides to kill himself during the next challenge so that Jenny can win. After winning, Jenny is taken back to the house and guarded by Claude until the "party". Knowing that Claude likes her, she begins flirting with him- telling him that she loves him and kissing him. Claude lets her go after this experience, but Phillip finds out about it and captures Jenny before she can escape. However, her escape attracts the attention of the police; and although Phillip was able to kill the first policeman, he knows there will be more. Phillip kisses his brother Claude good bye, telling him to stay. As Phillip escapes, police enter the house and arrest Claude- thus rescuing Jenny.
At the end for the final scene we see Jenny and a friend walking into a monorail when a message appears on here cell phone that was stated at the beginning of the contest saying "Please Leave Your Cell Phones By The Door" Phillip appears on her phone and a hand grabs her by her shoulder (implying that it might be Claude) ending the movie.
